We are often asked how is it that we've been able to stay open for over forty-five years. It's a question we think about a lot. Is it all the hard work? The long hours? If that were the case every restaurant would be open forever.
The restaurant business isn't an easy one. It's a fickle industry in a fast-changing world. There's high turnover (you mean you don't want to work nights & weekends on your feet for an uncertain amount of money for 40 years?!). Things are always breaking (the freezer, AGAIN?!). And sometimes you're thrown curveballs that feel like cannons (thanks alot 2020).
But even through all of this, the one thing that holds us together is family; our family and the family of friends and customers who've supported us through the years. Even with all the ups and downs, we remember the good times over the bad. The laughs, the smiles, the satisfied bellies.
So I guess the answer to the question is simply "We are family". So from our family to yours - THANK YOU!
~ Aura & JT
Co-owner JT has basically grown up at Widow Brown's so I guess you can say the restaurant business is in his blood.
When JT began managing the bar at Widow Brown's, local beer reps would present their newest specialty beers from all around the world. He began to really appreciate the uniquely different brewing styles like Weisse beers from Germany, Trappist beers brewed by monks, Saisons from Belgium and so much more.
Although not yet popular, he made it a point to create an ever-changing beer list showcasing a variety of beer styles. Soon, beer lovers from all around were making a special trip to Widow Brown's to enjoy unique, hard-to-find brews on tap.
When craft breweries began to take hold in America throughout the early 2010's, JT was invited to attend a "beer camp" at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, California. There he created a custom draft for Widow Brown's named "Beer Camp Dunk Schön".
As a beer geek before the term beer geek was coined, JT still sees to it that our beer selection is always exciting. Widow Brown's was and still is known for having one of the best tap line-ups in western Connecticut. Follow us on

When Widow Brown's turned 42, we figured it was time to give her a facelift. If you haven't been to Widow Brown's in awhile, then you haven't been to Widow Brown's!
